Hunters in Estonia shot 77 wolves and 88 lynxes during the past big carnivore hunting season, spokespeople for the Environmental Board said.

The limit of kills for the two species was respectively 99 and 90, meaning that 22 wolves and two lynxes fewer than the limit were shot during the season lasting from Dec. 1 to Feb. 28.

The number of permitted kills in the previous season was 170 for wolves and 101 for lynx, and in fact 149 of the former and 99 of the latter were shot.
