According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2013, the production of industrial enterprises increased by 6% compared to January of the previous year. The growth in the production was most of all influenced by the manufacturing of electronic products and electricity.

In January the increase in manufacturing was 4% compared to January of the previous year. Among the branches of industry holding larger shares, the production grew more in the manufacture of food products, electrical equipment and chemical products. The volume of production fell in the manufacture of wood and metal products, motor vehicles and machinery and equipment.

73% of the whole production of manufacturing was sold on the external market in January. Export sales of the manufacturing production grew 14% in January compared to the same month of the previous year, domestic sales increased 6%. Also the increase in exports was mainly caused by the rapid growth in sales of electronic products.

In January 2013 compared to December 2012, the seasonally adjusted total industrial production as well as the production in manufacturing did not change significantly.

Compared to January 2012, the production of electricity increased by 23% and the production of heat increased by 7%. The growth of electricity production was mainly caused by the increase in exports, as well as by the growth in electricity consumption compared to January 2012.
