Sure: being in military, Mr Manning broke the rules. Overly harsh state level revenge, however, will never reverse the leak. Neither will forceful repression of a soldier, naïve perhaps in his ideals, negate the fact that classified info would never had leaked without being widely and easily accessed by US state officials.
