The number of undertakings in the Estonian construction market is bound to decrease over the next five years, CEO of the listed Merko Ehitus group Andres Trink says.

"First of all in the general building segment it's not realistic that all companies participating in the market at present will be able to continue successfully operating in the next five years if the present situation continues," Trink said in an interview with BNS.
In his words, there are no signs of a jump in the growth of the market. "The talk is about large projects you can count on your fingers and the competition to build them will certainly be very tight," he added.
Merko Ehitus posted a net profit of 7.6 million euros for 2012. It ended the previous year with a loss of 14.1 million euros.
