Chancellor of Justice Indrek Teder (55) suffered a stroke last week but is out of hospital.

Spokeswoman Mari-Liis Sesmin said Teder will need rehabilitation, however, ERR News reported.

Teder's duties will in the meantime be overseen by his deputies Nele Parrest and Hent Kalmo.

In Estonia, the chancellor of justice combines the function of the general body for petition and the guardian of constitutionality. The nonpolitical official is appointed by Parliament on the proposal of the president for a seven-year term.
