Andrus Alber, who has stood at the helm of NASDAQ OMX Tallinn for six years, has decided not to seek a third term and will leave the position upon the expiry of his current term on Friday.

"After two terms as chairman of NASDAQ OMX Tallinn, I have decided to take on new opportunities. The past six years were a highly interesting and challenging period for our company and I would like to thank all my colleagues and business partners for the great collaboration we have had over these years," Alber was quoted by spokespeople for the stock exchange as saying.

Arminta Saladziene, chairman of the supervisory council of NASDAQ OMX Tallinn and head of NASDAQ OMX Baltic Market, said the selection process of the new CEO of NASDAQ OMX Tallinn was ongoing and the appointment would be announced in the near future.

Saladziene simultaneously announced the appointment of Daiga Auzina-Melalksne to the management board of NASDAQ OMX Tallinn. "This cross-border appointment will support our single Baltic Market strategy and along with a forthcoming appointment of the chairman, we will have a strong management team in Estonia," said Saladziene.

Auzina -Melalksne is the chairman of the management board of NASDAQ OMX Riga and head of Exchange Services of the Baltic Market. She also chairs the board of the Baltic Institute of Corporate Governance and is a member of the AmCham Latvia Board. Auzina-Melalksne has been working at NASDAQ OMX Riga Stock Exchange since 1998 and has been CEO of NASDAQ OMX Riga since 2005.

Andrus Alber was appointed chairman of the management board of the Tallinn Stock Exchange in February 2007. In 2010, the supervisory board reappointed him for a second three-year term which ends on Feb. 8 this year.
