Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has invited Andrus Ansip to visit St. Petersburg this spring to take part in an environmental conference. A spokeswoman for Ansip has confirmed that he has accepted the invitation, ERR News reported.

Ansip's attendance at the April 5-6 meeting, a gathering of leaders to discuss protection of the Baltic Sea marine environment, would mark his first visit to Russia since becoming prime minister in 2005.

"It's important to remember that this is not a bilateral meeting, but an event in which other government leaders of Baltic Sea countries are taking part," Ansip's press adviser, Liina Kersna told.
