On February 1st, Elfriede-Helene Kukk died at age of 107 years. «She was one to learn from, at any stage of life,» said Pille-Ruth Kukemilk of Rakvere Diaconian Centre, who, as open care specialist, was in contact with Ms Kukk for years.

«As I resigned from open care responsibilities this fall, Elfriede told me we’d surely meet at her birthday,» reminisced Ms Kukemilk.

Ms Kukk spent many years at Rakvere Social House. Starting this October, however, she was transferred to the retirement home Kuldne Sügis (autumn gold), where she also died.

Elfriede-Helene Kukk was the oldest citizen of Lääne-Viru County, and the second eldest Estonian overall. She would have been 108 on March 5th.
