Estonian parties and associations are preparing for local elections and the Greens, the Free Patriotic Citizen and the Union of Democrats are holding talks in order meet the fall elections jointly, the public Aktuaalne Kaamera newscast reported on Tuesday.

The Free Patriotic Citizen (VIK) will concretely decide in the spring, which associations and parties it will cooperate with. Consultations are being held at present.

Kulliki Kubarsepp, member of Free Patriotic Citizen, said that at the present they were moving in the direction that they would come out in Tallinn and Tartu. She added that there were also some smaller local governments where ideas were still being weighed.

The Tallinn chapter of the association regards civic and housing associations as well as smaller parties the most important partners.

The Estonian Green Party is certainly planning to take part in the elections in Tartu and Tallinn.

Aleksander  Laane, chairman of the Greens, said that the party had already talked with VIK and with the Democrats. "We have also talked with bigger and smaller groups of people as cooperation can only be based on certain values and agreements", Laane added.

The Union of Democrats wants to assemble around it people who would want to contribute to the development of Tallinn. Denis Borodits also mentioned housing  associations and apartment  societies side by side with bigger associations.

"I would not like to limit it to one or another organization but it is important that the people would love their city where they want to run and want to actively have their say and change something, Borodich said.

The local elections will take place on October 20.
