Hannes Rumm, former head of the European Commission representation in Estonia, will assume the duties of communications director at the Estonian Foreign Ministry on Thursday.

"This title means that as of June I will help communicate the foreign policy message of Estonia. Just as always, the goal is that Estonia is visible, that we are understood and supported," Rumm said on social media.

He added that there was an agreement with the Foreign Ministry that the weekly talk show "Samost ja Rumm" (Samost and Rumm) on the Vikerraadio radio channel of public broadcaster ERR will continue.

Rumm served as director of the European Commission representation in Estonia from Sept. 1, 2011 to Aug. 31, 2016.
