The civil war of the Center Party that is now being fought for political life or death is between two camps. The question is which will emerge victorious after the party's upcoming congress. Opponents of Edgar Savisaar have made more headway recently by convincing several of his past supporters to switch sides.

For example MP Jaanus Karilaid who was Savisaar's favorite merely a year ago. Savisaar had appointed Karilaid as the party's deputy chairman. There has also been talk of Tallinn deputy mayor, recent Savisaar man Mihhail Kõlvart belonging to the in-house opposition in light of the party's guarantee letters scandal that sparked the most recent conflict.
