Just happening to pass by, a man in Saaremaa this Tuesday morning found a three year old out in December weather barefoot, coat not buckled and in underwear, and weeping, writes local newspaper Meie Maa.

The man called Marek was on his way to work at about 9:40 am and heard the girl crying while crossing a street.

She was barefoot and in underpants only. Parents were not in sight. Stepping near, he asked about where mommy was. The child just wept. When she finally calmed down a bit, she said something about daddy but Maker could not quite understand what the frightened kid was saying.

Marek took the child to a staircase and knocked to have the kid get some warmth. Finally a door opened and the man and woman at home were asked to call the police.

Accompanied by the man who found the child, Meie Maa afterwards went and knocked on the door where the kid was initially taken. No-one answered. A neighbour passing by, however, said the child made it back home. How the parents were found and whether the police was contacted, the neighbour knew not.

«Today (Tuesday – edit) morning at about 10 the alarm centre got a call letting us know of a weeping child taken to neighbouring house at Garnisoni St, Kuressaare. The policemen located the child’s home and she was taken back home. The details and reason of why she happened to be in the street are being clarified,» said police press representative Heiko Leesment.
