Chief editors and publishers of member newspapers of the Estonian Newspaper Association (EALL) have named head of the Police and Border Guard Board Elmar Vaher friend of the press and businessman Rein Kilk foe of the press of the year of 2015.

According to the association Vaher has made the police authority more accessible to the media and other police officials should follow his lead, EALL said. Kilk was elected foe of the press because he has been introducing a new practice of sparing influential persons from the media writing about and analyzing their questionable actions by threatening with court.

The friend of the press will receive an inscribed megaphone, made by metal artist Ive-Maria Koogard.

Last year EALL named Elron CEO Andrus Ossip friend of the press and Estonian Olympic Committee president Neinar Seli foe of the press.
