The first batch of Javelin anti-tank missile systems purchased last year will reach Estonia this Friday.

The anti-tank missile system's training equipment reached Estonia this week and first shipments with the missile system will reach Estonia on Friday, military spokespeople told BNS.

Estonian Defense Minister in November signed a contract on the purchase of 80 Javelin anti-tank missile systems worth 40 million euros. The contract leaves open a possibility for Estonia to buy another 40 devices if necessary. The number of missiles purchased is not public information.

The systems will be included in the weaponry of units of the Estonian Defense Forces as well as the Kaitseliit (Defense League) volunteer corps.
