On June 8th, Pskov court will launch process regarding the kidnapped Estonian security policeman Eston Kohver. According to Urmas Paet, member of European Parliament and Estonia’s former foreign minister, the court process is a meaningless piece of nonsense.

«Whatever they will fabricate regarding Eston Kohver in the Pskov court case, it carries no essential meaning. The cynical and inhuman propaganda has claimed nine months of Eston Kohver’s life, and of his children having to live without father,» Mr Paet said via press release.

The former foreign minister says Estonian public would be wise not to fall victim to the propaganda by paying overmuch attention to the court case: «We need not be carried along by the FSB plot trying to paint a picture of a genuine and serious court case which it is not.»

Mr Paet says the kidnapping and arrest of Mr Kohver may be treated as violation of international law and can only result in freedom for the security police officer. «Alongside of Estonia, this is the position of European Commission, European Parliament, Council of Europe, and numerous democratic nations,» specified Mr Paet.

On September 5th 2014, unknown individuals from Russia apprehended Mr Kohver while on duty near Luhamaa border point on Estonian territory, and took him to Russia by physical force at gunpoint.

The kidnapping was preceded by interference from the Russian side of operative radio communication and use of a smoke grenade.

Mr Kohver now stands accused in espionage, illegal border crossing, gun ownership and smuggling thereof.

By Pskov Court, the arrest of Mr Kohver has been extended till August 4th this year.
