A court in Moscow's Lefortovo District on Monday extended the deadline for holding in custody the abducted Estonian security official Eston Kohver until April 5.

According to Yevgeny Aksyonov, the Russia-appointed defense attorney of Kohver, the Estonian official asked him to forward good New Year's wishes to Estonia and thank the country for its support so far. Kohver also expressed hope that the support of Estonians will also continue in the future, Aksyonov told BNS.

According to Aksyonov an Estonian doctor will meet Kohver on Tuesday at 10 a.m. and will check the state of his health, using the prison's equipment. The Estonian consul will also be present at the meeting.

Kohver was seized near the Estonian-Russian border and taken to Russia by force on Sept. 5. He is accused of spying and is held in Lefortovo prison.
