Port of Tallinn has signed contracts on the construction of four new passenger ferries for the routes between mainland Estonia and large western islands, with Polish Remontowa Shipbuilding and Turkish Sefine Shipyard to build two ferries each.

The ferries will be built in shipyards located in Gdansk, Poland and Altinova/Yalova, Turkey. The 114 meters long vessels will accommodate 150 passenger cars or 10 road trains and have passenger places equipped with safety devices for 600 passengers. The new ferries are designed by Norwegian LMG Marin, Port of Tallinn said.
«The signed contracts give confidence to all the Estonian people that starting from fall 2016 a quality connection between the large islands and mainland with new ferries that meet present-day requirements is ensured,» chairman of the supervisory board of the state-owned port operator Remo Holsmer said.
