The Estonia-Finland undersea power cable Estlink 2 will be out of operation between Oct. 12 and 21 because the cable's joint closures that recently brought down the cable twice during a period of one month due to their insufficient moistureproofness are to be made moistureproof by constructor Nexans Norway.

In case of a serious need the replacement of joint closures could be stopped and the cable could be returned to the market in 24 hours, Elering said.

The Estlink 2 undersea power cable between Estonia and Finland that switched off on Sept. 9 following the activation of the direct current return circuit's differential protection returned to service on Sept. 14.
