Photos by reader: US military equipment rolling into Estonia

In October, an US ground troops company is due in Estonia. Partly, their equipment has arrived.

On the 11th of September, a reader of Postimees shot pictures of vehicles on the road in Pärnu County, transporting military equipment. As confirmed by Second lieutenant Roland Murof, press representative at Defence Forces, this is heavy equipment for the US unit in question. According to Sec. Lieut. Murof, the containers pictured were carrying Stryker armoured personnel carriers to Tapa.

Till the first days of October, military equipment from USA will keep on arriving into Estonia.

In October, 600 soldiers of US Army 1st Cavalry Division are coming to Poland and the Baltics to replace the troops from Vicenza, Italy based 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team. The company bound for Estonia will come with M-1 Abrams tanks, infantry fighting machines and armoured personnel carriers. The unit’s home base is at Fort Hood, Texas, in the United States of America. The soldiers will stay in Estonia for three months.
