Ilves has decided: Rõivas named candidate for prime minister

This afternoon, President Toomas Hendrik Ilves nominated Taavi Rõivas (Reform Party) as candidate for prime minister and thus tasked with forming a new government of Estonia.

According to Mr Ilves, Reform Party and soc dems have by now announced they are creating a majority coalition, possessing a minimum of 55 votes at Riigikogu.

«At our recent meeting with Reform Party and Social Democrats chairmen Taavi Rõivas and Sven Mikser, both assured me the new coalition is supportive of Taavi Rõivas as candidate for prime minister,» said the President.

Candidate for prime minister having been nominated, tomorrow - on Saturday - the two parties will proceed with their now official coalition talks.
