Two defendants in the Estonian football players' drug trafficking case have made deals with the prosecution, it turned out at the opening hearing at Harju County Court on Monday.

In connection with the plea bargains, the prosecutor requested that the guilt episodes of the two men, Peeter Kallas and Peeter Truus, be separated from the criminal case. The court granted the request. The remaining defendants, football players Tauno Laasme, Oliver Konsa and Norman Kago, will be tried under general procedure and the next hearing was set for Sept. 27.

Laasme, Konsa and Kago have been charged with illegal handling of a big amount of cocaine bought from Kallas. Kago is also being accused of escaping from a police convoy.

The charges brought against Kallas include illegal acquisition, possession and trafficking of large quantities of a narcotic substance, and Truus has been charged with illegal possession.

Konsa has 20 times played for the national football team and won the national championship in the ranks of FC Nomme Kalju last year. Both Kago and Laasme have played for the second league club JK Kaitseliit/Kalev.
