Sales of Estonian garment co Baltika dip 1 pct y-o-y in August

Consolidated sales revenue of the listed Estonian garment company Baltika totaled 4.7 million euros in August, down by 1 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

Consolidated retail sales were 4.16 million euros, marking a year-on-year decrease of 4 percent. Wholesale and online sales soared 40 percent against August 2012, the company told the stock exchange.

Retail revenue in the three Baltic states taken together remained at the level of August 2012. Sales decreased by 18 percent in Russia and by 7 percent in Ukraine. In local currency sales decreased by 9 percent in Russia and increased by 1 percent in Ukraine.

At the end of August Baltika had 117 stores with a total sales area of 23,030 square meters. Sales area increased by 7 percent compared to the same month a year earlier.

Sales revenue in the first eight months of 2013 amounted to 36.96 million euros, up by 6 percent in annual comparison. Retail revenue made up 34.59 million euros and wholesale and e-commerce revenue was 2.29 million euros.

On Aug. 19 Baltika opened the first Blue Inc London store in Baltics, in the Origo shopping center in Riga. In September another brand shop will be opened in Valmiera, Latvia and a third one will open its doors at the beginning of October in the Rocca al Mare shopping center in the Estonian capital Tallinn.
