Jan-Aug death toll from fires eight smaller than last year

In all 25 people were killed as a result of fires in Estonia during the first eight months of 2013, eight fewer than the death toll of 33 for January-August 2012.

Of counties, the number of victims was highest in Harju County at five, it appears from figures available from the Rescue Board. The Polva, Saare and Valga counties had three victims each, East-Viru, Jogeva, Parnu and Rapla counties two deaths each, and Jarva, Tartu and Viljandi counties one each.

Nobody was killed in fires in Hiiu County, Laane County, West-Viru County and Voru County.
