In collaboration with the Russian Railways subsidiary FPK, the Estonian passenger carrier AS GoRail is about to add a second passenger train on the Tallinn-St. Petersburg route starting Aug. 22.

«The two Tallinn-St. Petersburg trains will complement each other in terms of departure times, departing from both destinations in the morning and in the afternoon. This opportunity has been waited for by travel companies and individual travelers alike in St. Petersburg, as the train that was introduced on the route last year is better suited for Estonian travelers as far as departure times go. The timetable of the second train allows tourists arriving from Russia to spend more time here,» Go Rail manager Alar Pinsel said.

The train number 811/812 Tallinn-St. Petersburg-Tallinn will be in operation from Aug. 22 with departure from Tallinn at 3:25 p.m. and arrival at the Vitebsk station in they northwestern Russian city at 11:03 p.m. Starting Aug. 23 the same train will depart from St. Petersburg at 6:55 in the morning and arrive in Tallinn at 12:29. The estimated travel time is six and a half hours and it includes time for border procedures.

Initially the second train will operate only in the second half of the week when the number of travelers is bigger. Under the initial schedule the train will depart from Tallinn on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays and from St. Petersburg on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays. Daily departures are planned in the future.

GoRail operates the route with diesel trains with seats for up to 280 passengers.

AS GoRail, a company of the Estonian-equity transport and accommodation services provider Go Group, operates international trains between Tallinn and Moscow and Tallinn and St. Petersburg.
