Fully 18 percent of Estonians would be prepared to cheat the state and receive a bigger part of their wages as cash in hand, it appears from a survey by the recruitment portal CV Keskus.

The portal conducted a poll of users to find out what people would agree to so as to get paid more. As many as 21 percent of the respondents would opt for a boring and unvaried job if it was well paid.

Some 17 percent of the polled would accept lack of career opportunities, 6 percent constant overwork and 1 percent an unpleasant work ambience.

Fully 29 percent of respondents would not put up with any of the above for the sake of higher pay whereas 8 percent would be ready to accept all those conditions.

The sister portal of CV Keskus, CV Market, recently carried out a similar study in Lithuania, which showed that in that country 21 percent of respondents would not accept any of the conditions and 11 percent would agree to all so as to earn higher wages.

Respondents in the Estonian survey numbered 1,036.
