Casino firm brings Hilton to Tallinn.

The Olympic EG casino firm has signed an agreement with Hilton Worldwide on the opening of the chain's first Baltic hotel in Tallinn. Olympic will demolish the Reval park Hotel and replace it with an entertainment complex comprising a casino, a conference center and a spa. The hotel will have 202 rooms. The 36 million euro center will be built by Merko Ehitus and is scheduled to open in December 2015.

EU directive lowered mobile phone firms' earnings.

The EU directive reducing call termination and roaming fees has lowered the turnover of all three mobile telephone firms in the Estonian market. Tele2 reported the greatest decline of 23 percent in the first half-year. EMT's turnover fell 14 percent and Elisa Eesti reported lower turnover as well. While all three firms cited the effect of the EU directive as the main cause of declining profits, Tele2 also pointed out the lower prices, which have not been compensated by growth of customer base.
