Ship catches fire at BLRT shipyard in Tallinn

A ship caught fire at a facility of the Estonian industrial group BLRT in Tallinn the night into Tuesday, no injuries have been reported.

The emergency center was notified at 1:44 a.m. that the insulation of a 100 meter long ship under demolition was on fire at the BLRT facility in Kopli Street.

Crews from four rescue units started immediately extinguishing the flames which took the whole night. «Only at 7:56 a.m. were the rescuers able to contain the fire and currently post-extinguishing work and dismantling are in progress,» a spokesperson for the North rescue center said shortly after 9 a.m.

No one was hurt in the accident. An investigation will be conducted to find out the cause of the fire.
