In the first half of this year 8,230 new businesses, 459 more than the year before, were registered in Estonia.

Among the new businesses were 7,061 private limited companies, 15 public limited companies and 1,154 sole proprietorships, the Justice Ministry said.

Some 69 percent of all the private limited companies, 4,838 in all, were established without immediate contribution of share capital.

Most new businesses were registered via the e-Business Register.

Data of the commercial register show that in 2012 a total of 19,203 businesses were registered in Estonia. Private limited companies without capital contribution numbered 8,991, making up 60 percent of all companies of this type.
