Estonian prime minister reaches 3000 days in office

Andrus Ansip has been at the head of the Estonian government for 3,000 consecutive days, spokespeople for the government said on Sunday.

The first Ansip-led government took office on April 13, 2005 and lasted 723 days, till April 5, 2007. Ansip headed also the next government which stayed in office for 1,463 days, till April 6, 2011. Ansip's third government that lasts to this day took office on the same day.

The duties of head of government have been performed the longest by Heinrich Mark, who became acting prime minister of the Estonian government in exile on May 8, 1971 and held this position for 6,874 days, till June 20, 1990.

Prime ministers of the government in exile excluded, Ansip is the longest-serving prime minister of Estonia.
