The government supports amendments to the political parties act.

The government's Thursday session supported the political parties act amendments bill, which changes the provisions for the funding of parties and monitoring of the financing. The ministers called for further discussion of the limit of unlawful donations to parties, the monitoring of election campaign costs and the financing of parties, which remained outside the parliament.

Major meat processing firms aim to expand.

There were 97 meat handling firms in  Estonia at the end of 2012, including small slaughterhouses. The number of meat processing firms was slightly above 50. Margus Venelaine, business manager of the Rakvere meat packing plant, considers the number too high, but points out that an increasing number of farmers are starting to sell their own meat products. The three largest firms, Rakvere, Atria and Maag Grupp, aim at expanding to foreign  markets, primarily in the neighboring countries.
