The recent report of the Environment Agency shows that the number of wolves has declined from 31 packs to 22. The agency reassures that this was the result of deliberate policy aimed at maintaining the wolf population at optimum level. The number of bears has fallen slightly due to hunting. The agency report also points out that the elk population has risen above the optimum level.
