The Estonian commuter train operator Elektriraudtee (Electric Railway) and the Latvian company Holdinga Kompanija Felix Ltd have concluded an agreement under which Elektriraudtee will sell the latter all the electric trains it has currently in operation.

Under the sale and purchase agreement, the Latvian company will buy from Elektriraudtee 48 ER type electric train cars, Elektriraudtee said.

As far as Elektriraudtee knows, the Latvian company plans to renovate the old trains, lengthening their life span, and then put the whole fleet into operation to serve passengers.

Elektriraudtee board member Riho Seppar said negotiations with different parties were in progress since the end of last year.

Elektriraudtee decided to put its old rolling stock up for sale in May 2012. The old trains are being sold because the company will start operating new FLIRT electric and diesel trains of the Swiss manufacturer Stadler Bussnang.
