The parliamentary seat of Mart Laar, who is about to take up his new duties as chairman of the supervisory board of the Bank of Estonia, will got to Andrus Saare.

Under a decision passed by the Riigikogu board on Tuesday, Saare's mandate as substitute member of parliament will start on June 13.

Saare stood in for Laar in the Riigikogu also when Laar served as minister of defense and relinquished the seat when Laar returned to parliament after a serious illness in May 2012.

A member of the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union (IRL), Saare has been elected mayor of the rural municipality of Kohila on three occasions and as member of the Kohila council on two occasions. In January this year Saare was appointed adviser to Minister of Education and Research Jaak Aaviksoo.
