Three residents of Latvia were injured as a bus en route from Riga to St. Petersburg, Russia veered off the road in Estonia's Jogeva County in the early hours of Thursday.

The accident happened at 2:15 a.m. on the 79th kilometer of the Johvi-Tartu-Valga highway, spokespeople for the South prefecture of the Police and Border Guard Board said.

The Neoplan bus was carrying eight passengers and two drivers. Emergency medical staff took three injured passengers, all of them residents of Latvia, to the Tartu University Hospital. One woman was hospitalized and two men were discharged after being given first aid. The remaining five passengers continued the journey with a replacement bus.

The asphalt road was wet on the scene of the accident. Tachograph data showed the bus was traveling at 90 kilometers per hour, the maximum allowed speed for that section of the road, before it went off the road.

The exact circumstances of the accident and victims' data are being established.
