Baltic drug traffickers stand out in South America.

Authorities of South American countries are watchful of drug traffickers from the Baltic countries as the latter stand out in the crowd and are relatively numerous. Most Baltic drug traffickers caught in South America are 20-25 year old men looking for an easy payday and adventure or men in their 50s and 60s driven to crime by financial trouble. Last year, authorities all over the world caught 130 drug traffickers from Lithuania, 30 from Latvia and 30 from Estonia. The corresponding figures were 174 for Lithuania, 71 for Latvia and 26 for Estonia a year earlier.
