Männik considers founding a new party.

Chairman of the supervisory board of the Bank of Estonia Jaan Männik finds that Estonian politics does not value ethics and credibility and that erring against these principles brings with it no consequences, which is why he is willing to give it another six months before founding a new party to remedy the situation. The aim of the new force would be to restore ethical politics and trust between the people and politicians.

"Should things remain unchanged six months from now, I will seriously consider establishing a new political party," Männik said. The supervisory board chairman whose term of office will come to an end on June 12 added that his biggest challenge will be finding the people with whom to launch the new party and that the party's program might not differ too much from that of existing right wing forces.

Tõnis Oja: Tallink on sea of speculations

Nearly all needs to be known about listed companies, but when it comes to Tallink, the public is almost totally in the dark. Another mysterious move around the shipping group started happening three months ago, the company announcing large transactions involving 15.7 per cent of shares changing hands.

A company called Baltic Cruises bought shares from a private equity fund it is owned by, but also from two investment funds and the main holder Infortar.  Latest by end of April, something very weighty will happen. Then, we’ll see more light.

Basic exemption rise would fatten purse by €4

Head of parliamentary finance committee Sven Sester (IRL) yesterday said that from 2014, basic exemption might probably be raised by 15 per cent, from €144 to €165, meaning that people would keep extra €4.41 of monthly salary.

According to Mr Sester, the final word on basic exemption rise can be said at the beginning of April, upon publication of spring economic forecast by Ministry of Finance.
