Estonia's Interior Minister Ken-Marti Vaher is not going to nominate the deputy secretary general of the Justice Ministry, Priit Kama, for director general of the Police and Border Guard Board.

Vaher decided against nominating Kama for the top job of police because the candidate lacks the necessary political support, spokespeople for the Interior Ministry said. "The head of Estonia's largest state organization needs a sufficiently broad-based mandate and political support when taking office," the minister said.

The Interior Ministry will continue an executive search to find a suitable candidate for the position.
