The common adversary of the Center Party and the Estonian Social Democratic Party (SDE) is extreme rightism, for the overpowering of which it's still not too late, leader of the Center Party Edgar Savisaar said in his speech at a meeting of Center's extended board on Saturday.

"The results of the policy of the government are massive exodus of Estonian people from their native land, consistent fading of life outside a few major cities and icy relations between the parts of the society speaking different languages," Savisaar, mayor of Tallinn, said. "Our solutions and those of the Socialists once we have brought down the right-wingers are similar – graduated rate income tax, creating of jobs all across Estonia and ensuring of domestic peace between Estonians and Russians. To put it briefly, we'll do in the whole of Estonia like the Center Party has done in Tallinn."

The leader of the largest opposition party also called on members of the ruling parties Reform and Pro Patria and Res Publica Union (IRL) to disown the policy pursued by the government. "Even if you are members of the ruling parties, think once again what you have in common with those parties and with the policy that they are pursuing – and you'll find that there's nothing in common. You can disown the present policy, but better still, disown their party card too. By that you will save your soul, but what's more important still – please give Estonia the chance to get a new breath of life," Savisaar said before senior party members during the meeting in the southwestern small town of Sindi.
