An electrically heated apartment’s electricity bill for January shows a monthly increase in payment of 44.3 per cent.

For the user of Eesti Energia’s Fixed Package, the increase was greatest for night-time electricity, percentage wise. While the daytime kWh price rose by 45.8 per cent, night-time price came with as much as 141.8 per cent of increase.

However, generalisations cannot be made on the basis of a single user, as both sellers of electricity and packages differ.

Overall, January’s electricity bill was smaller than that of December – consumption also being lower due to a milder January. After a long while now, network service price was smaller than that of electricity on January’s invoice.

Starting this January, Estonian electricity market opened up for home customers, bringing about a sharp price rise.
