1,713 new cars registered in January

A total of 3,663 passenger cars were registered for the first time in the Estonian motor vehicle register in January, of which 1,713 or 47 percent were brand new.

The share of new cars in first time registrations was one percent lower than in January 2012.

In January 2012 the number of cars registered for the first time was 3,447 and 1,671 of them were brand new. In December 2012 the respective figures were 2,916 and 1,043.

The top model in terms of Estonian new car registrations in January was Honda CR-V with 113 units and Hyundai I30 was second with 57. Subaru Legacy and Toyota Avensis were tied for third with 54 units each and Toyota Auris fifth with 49 new units registered.

Toyota topped the list of carmakers with 210 units, Honda was second with 153 and Volkswagen third with 140 new cars registered.

Trucks registered in Estonia for the first time numbered 658 in January, of them 382 were brand new. Buses numbered 68 overall and new units 40. Of motorcycles 99 units were registered for the first time, including 59 brand new units, and of tractors 47, of them 35 brand new.
