On last Wednesday afternoon, between 4.10 pm and 4.15 pm, Estonian power plants produced a combined total of 2052 megawatts of electricity, which is the highest output figure in recent years, reported Elering.

Most of the output came from oil shale burning power plants. Wind turbines produced 205 megawatts of electricity, and biomass-burning facilities produced 65 megawatts. Electricity production from other sources came to around twenty megawatts.

In the same period, domestic consumption was 1332 megawatts, while exports came to 660 megawatts to Latvia and Lithuania and 60 megawatts to Finland.

The first time in recent years that electricity generation exceeded the 2000 megawatt threshold was the evening of January 10th, when for a five-minute period, the output of power plants was 2010 megawatts.
